Gadhafi defiant after coalition missile, jet attacks - CNN.com
This I do not understand. I have backed President Obama on every issue thus far, but I cannot back the President on this one. We should not have intervened in this civil war. The Libyan people chose to rebel, they chose to challenge their government, so in effect they chose to be killed. Once people choose these actions, they understand what the consequences can be. Those who chose revolution for America said "If we loose we will be hung as traitors." There is no justifiable reason for the US and or any other countries to have attacked Libya. Prime Minister David Cameron (Britain) say "I believe we should not stand aside while this dictator murders his own people." REALLY??? Well what happened in Sudan? The world stood aside while a dictator murdered his own people.
The Sudan is just one example of many, especially in Africa. This is completely uncalled for and I hope troops are not sent into Libya because Iraq was terrible, but Libya would be unbearable.
Gadhafi defended his actions in his note to Obama. He said his opponents are from al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, the group's North African wing, and asked Obama what he would do if such an armed movement controlled American cities.
ReplyDelete"Tell me, how would you behave so I could follow your example?"
Yes, Mr.President, please tell us.
So, wars with no end are a big no for you. Likewise, in fact I abhor violence. But in today's world, it is necessary in order to safeguard certain personal freedoms that leaders of other nations are not willing to give up for personal enrichment. That's what America is all about, most people hate America and I can certainly sympathize, but the trade offs of an imperfect governing system for a chance at freedom is totally worth it for me.
ReplyDeleteNow if the US or UN begin sending in ground troops into Libya then I will have a huge problem with that.
How do you pick which nations to attack? How and who decides what people deserve freedom and which people don't?
ReplyDeleteYou see people have been dying in Africa for decades, for no other reason then they are living. The People in Libya challenged their government and their government responded with overwhelming force. I expected it, do you think they didn't?
Prolonged wars or wars with no end serves no purpose but to keep or put in power capitalist. This has nothing to do with the freedom of the people, so please stop using that argument because it's void.
If freedom was the true purpose Kim Jong Il, would not possess nuclear weapons while his population is being oppressed and starved. Iran wouldn't be on the brink of producing a weapon, and there would be troops in Darfur. This has nothing to do with human rights.
America's history of human rights is bleak at best, so how could a country who knows nothing of human rights extend it to some one else?
