Constitution

Racism in this country goes back far beyond the constitution, but for conversation sake we'll start there. Racism started with the signing of that document. It was written by white men for white land owning males. Women, Blacks, Natives, or any other persons were included. Nor were they supposed to be, this country was meant to be only for white protestants. People who are now considered white (Greeks, Italians, Irish, and other Eastern and Southern Europeans) was not included. The best thing about the constitution is, it is a living document and can be amended with the times. But this living document set in motion the institution of race that continues to haunt this country till this day.
